Responsible for collecting environmental monitoring samples in the manufacturing processing areas including viable, non-viable, surface, personnel, water and gases as scheduled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Collect environmental monitoring samples in the manufacturing processing areas including viable, non-viable, surface, personnel, water and gases as scheduled.

  2. Prepare equipment and supplies required for environmental monitoring.

  3. Will share general responsibilities for monitoring equipment maintenance and calibration, housekeeping, and other support functions (e.g., inventory of consumables and reagents).

  4. Compile and enter data into computer database (i.e. LIMS - Laboratory Information Management System) to be used for reporting and trending purposes.

  5. Review test results against specifications.

  6. Maintain sample logs on a daily basis to ensure timely testing and tracking of all samples.

  7. Maintain Instrument Usage and Calibration Logs based on instrument usage during the preparation and testing of samples.

  8. Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations.

  9. Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations.

  10. Adhere to departmental corporate safety policies.

  1. Associate’s degree in Microbiology, Biology or closely related scientific discipline is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  2. Related experience in a pharmaceutical, GMP, or FDA regulated environment is preferred.

  3. Requires a basic understanding of the fundamentals of microbiology, aseptic techniques and environmental monitoring.

  4. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured decisions on a routine basis.

  5. Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail.

  6. Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment.

  7. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet targeted deadlines.

  8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment.

  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  10. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  11. Specific experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is preferred.

  12. Must be flexible with working hours / shifts in order to accommodate the 24 hour, 7 day plant operation.


  1. Ability to lift /move up to 25 pounds.

  2. Ability to stand for extended periods - up to four (4) hours at a time.

  3. Manual dexterity to perform all job functions.

  4. Ability to gown and work in an aseptic/clean room environment.

  5. Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals and biological hazards.
