POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for performing routine and non-routine assays that support the release of intermediates and finished products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Perform product release testing, stability testing, in-process testing, and other protocol testing as directed by the laboratory supervisor or Senior Chemist.

  2. Compile and enter data into computer database (i.e. LIMS - Laboratory Information Management Systems) to be used for reporting and trending purposes.

  3. Review test results against specifications.

  4. Will share general responsibilities for laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration, housekeeping, and other lab support functions (e.g., inventory of consumables and reagents).

  5. Maintain sample logs on a daily basis to ensure timely testing and tracking of all samples.

  6. Maintain Instrument Usage and Calibration Logs based on instrument usage during the preparation and testing of samples.

  7. Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations.

  8. Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations.

  9. Adhere to departmental corporate safety policies.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or closely related scientific discipline is required.

  2. Requires a basic understanding of the fundamentals of analytical methodology and protein biochemistry, as well as basic statistical analysis.

  3. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured decisions on a routine basis.

  4. Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail.

  5. Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment.

  6. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet targeted deadlines.

  7. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment.

  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  9. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  10. Must be flexible with working hours / shifts in order to accommodate the 24 hour, 7 day plant operation.

  11. Specific experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Manual dexterity to perform all job functions.

  2. Ability to lift /move up to 25 pounds.

  3. Ability to stand for extended periods - up to four (4) hours at a time.

  4. Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals and biological hazards.
