POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for inspecting and sampling all raw materials that are used in production according to the Raw Material Specification (RMS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Sample raw materials for QC testing and for the Reference Sample program.

  2. Perform identification test for all chemical containers.

  3. Perform visual inspections and dimensional analysis of incoming materials per RMS (Raw Materials Specification).

  4. Record deficiencies associated with each lot received under the supplier quality history trending program.

  5. Review all inspection records to ensure entries are correct and completely filled out.

  6. Stack/load pallets and transport material by operating various types of material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, electric pallet jack).

  7. Will share general responsibilities for equipment maintenance and calibration, housekeeping, and other support functions (e.g., inventory of consumables and reagents).

  8. Maintain sample logs on a daily basis to ensure timely testing and tracking of all samples.

  9. Maintain Instrument Usage and Calibration Logs based on instrument usage during the preparation and testing of samples.

  10. Strict adherence to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations.

  11. Strong emphasis on documentation according to FDA regulations.

  12. Adhere to departmental corporate safety policies.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or closely related scientific discipline is required.

  2. Related experience in a pharmaceutical, GMP, or FDA regulated environment is preferred.

  3. Requires a basic understanding of quality inspection and verification / testing of incoming raw materials.

  4. Forklift experience (stand up or sit down) in a warehouse environment is preferred.

  5. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured decisions on a routine basis.

  6. Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail.

  7. Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment.

  8. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet targeted deadlines.

  9. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment.

  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  11. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  12. Must be flexible with working hours / shifts in order to accommodate the 24 hour, 7 day plant operation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to lift /move up to 50 pounds.

  2. Ability to stand for extended periods - up to four (4) hours at a time.

  3. Manual dexterity to perform all job functions.

  4. Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals and biological hazards.

  5. Must have color perception/discrimination for inspection and/or testing.

  6. Must be able to work in cold environments.
