Job Summary:

As a Field Service Engineer, you will install, repair and troubleshoot laboratory / robotic equipment and other diagnostic instruments / medical devices within Grifols’ portfolio of pharmacy solutions in various hospitals and outpatient centers throughout your region.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Installs, repairs and troubleshoots instruments and identifies technical problems and system issues. Repairs include identifying and removing defective parts, installation of new parts, and calibrating robotic systems. Performs preventative maintenance on instruments and manages preventative maintenance schedules for all instruments within the defined territory.

  • Responsible for training customers on basic use of the instruments.

  • May be asked to participate on special assignments to develop the service support requirements as part of the commercialization of new products.

  • Provides field mentoring / coaching to other Field Service Technicians for enhancement of their skill development, overall performance and to promote ownership and teamwork.

  • Assist the Customer Technical Services Manager to ensure all goals and objectives of the department, Hospital Division and Grifols are executed in a professional, timely manner in accordance with Grifols’ procedures and SOP’s.

  • Responsible for operation of instrument, PC controller and the utilization of Microsoft Office modules, as appropriate. Must possess operator-level knowledge of instrument software.

  • Must follow defined technical service complaint handling procedures to ensure all customer complaint communication is accurately recorded by the Technical Call Center.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Concentration in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics is a plus.

  • Requires two years or more experience as Field Service Technician / Engineer on medical equipment, robotic automation, or related field. Two years or more complimentary experience in any of the following areas: technical call center, mechanical assembler, automation / robotics, applications support, laboratory technician, and/or medical technology.

  • Must possess strong technical and precision mechanical assembly skills and ability to read electrical schematics and block diagrams. Robotics and machine automation knowledge preferred. PLC knowledge preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude is required. Comfortable working on mechanical assemblies and at ease understanding how they work.

  • High level of competence in electro-mechanical, computer and other related disciplines. Must be able to demonstrate through previous electronic and/or engineering testing and occasional on-the-job testing.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 30% to 70%.

  • Must be a self-starter and have demonstrated ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

  • Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, along with the personal characteristics of professionalism, commitment to excellence, detail orientation and accountability.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines within a large geographical area.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels and manage relationships.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Work is performed in a Hospital Pharmacy setting. May come in contact with infectious or chemical agents and required to follow same precautions as Pharmacy staff, and as directed by customer’s institution.
