Senior Supervisor, Material Handling and Classification

2nd shift

Monday - Thursday

1:30pm - 12:00am

Provides senior supervisory role in the Plasma Logistics Centers. Responsibilities include receipt, handling, verification, storage, inventory management, and distribution for all human blood plasma to ensure the highest level of compliance. Provides assistance to departmental management on issues relating to budget preparation and resource planning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the receipt, handling, verification, storage, and distribution of plasma to ensure compliance, safety, and conformance to procedures as specified by Standard Operating Procedures, cGMP's, and OSHA standards

  • Assure that each plasma shipment, production unit, and lot meets all applicable quality, storage, and production requirements and ensure that each plasma lot is delivered in a timely manner to appropriate customers.

  • Assure that each individual unit of plasma that is deemed unacceptable for further processing is individually removed, accounted for, and ultimately dispositioned according to documented procedures.

  • Interview, hire, train, and directly supervise non-exempt employees in the Plasma Operations group. Monitor performance, employee relations, and quality standards to ensure effective work team performance is maintained.

  • Develop and maintain departmental SOP's in accordance with regulatory agency and company requirements. Ensure procedures accurately reflect the processes that are currently being performed.

  • Coordinate and provide oversight to all inventory transactions relating to the storage and movement of raw plasma. Maintain inventory accuracy levels at agreed upon targets.

  • Partner with a wide variety of internal and external customers including manufacturing, freight carriers, quality operations, and numerous other groups on a variety of issues.

  • Work closely with Quality Operations group to evaluate incoming plasma to determine if it is acceptable, discrepant, or non-conforming.

  • Provide assistance to departmental management on issues relating to annual budget preparation and monthly monitoring of departmental expenses as compared to budgeted line items.

  • Provide assistance to departmental management to ensure the proper resources (i.e. personnel, equipment, and supplies) are budgeted and allocated to meet all processing requirements.

  • Provide input on system and process improvements that will provide benefits for the operational area in which they are assigned. Develop project plans and oversee the implementation of projects that will impact their area of supervision.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Position requires a minimum of a high school education. A Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences, business administration, engineering, or some other related field is a bonus.

  • A minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience in logistics, warehousing, materials inventory planning, or distribution (preferably relating to raw plasma) is required for this level.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Working knowledge of manufacturing processes related to raw plasma, inventory controls, and strong knowledge of cGMP's and other regulatory requirements. Must demonstrate leadership and independent decision making capabilities, have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and possess a high level of urgency. The ability to adapt to changing priorities is essential.
