Grifols Shared Services North America, Inc Director, Manufacturing in Emeryville, California
This role is instrumental in providing manufacturing leadership, strategic vision, and tactical execution in support of key business objectives for Grifols Diagnostic Solutions Immunodiagnostics Manufacturing. The candidate will lead a solid team of professionals to ensure delivery of results by meeting the production schedules and critical deadlines, and identifying and implementing robust process improvements with partners that improve operational efficiencies and quality performance. The Director of Manufacturing maintains quality standards by ensuring that the facility is compliant with regulatory and safety standards, and possesses a thorough understanding of the technical nuances of the site to provide leadership in troubleshooting, process evaluations, and critical decision making in a state of the art manufacturing site.
Provides functional leadership of all stages of the immunodiagnostic manufacturing operation in Emeryville. Includes microbial Fermentation & Mammalian Cell Culture , Purification, Filling / Labelling, Warehouse and Tech Services Operations.
Develops and supports an empowered, high performing manufacturing organization with accountability for recruiting, training, safety, and career development.
Leads efforts to continuously improve manufacturing by evaluating various methods
Partners with other functions / process leaders in Emeryville as well as other Grifols sites to ensure timely and successful completion of key business initiatives.
Partners with other functions to deliver key project milestones including initiatives in facility, equipment and process improvements, IT systems and other projects.
Provides business leadership to manage the budgeting and planning processes for manufacturing effectively to ensure that customer, financial, and operational objectives are met.
Supports and leads change management initiatives.
Ensures compliance with Grifols’ quality, compliance, safety, GMP, and regulatory standards at all times.
Ensures site is efficient in releasing products in a timely manner by managing the assessment of technical issues, investigations, and CAPA’s effectively and efficiently.
Participates on strategic initiatives such as tech transfer projects, partnership projects, and due diligence activities with business development
10% travel is possible
B.S./ M.S. in engineering, biotechnology, or biological / pharmaceutical sciences required. MBA preferred
Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a biotech / pharmaceutical environment including leadership and management roles. Specific experience leading upstream and /or downstream bulk manufacturing processes strongly preferred. Microbial production experience preferred. Strong project management and team leadership skills required.
