The division advances patient care with diagnostic solutions to improve disease detection and management, and simplify laboratory operations.

The Senior Accountant FRA is responsible for Grifols Diagnostic Solution accounting issues including: the primary point of contact for the Emeryville team as well as the NVS Finance Share services Center in Fort Worth and Grifols Financial Shared Services Center in Los Angeles, technical accounting, month-end closings, financial reporting, SOX compliance and liaison with internal and external auditors.

Primary responsibilities for role:

  • Coordinate the month-end close process for FRA Americas.

  • Perform month-end close processes for Americas region.

  • Complete account analysis and account reconciliations

  • Preparation of key reporting requirements to 3rd party collaborators

  • Responsible for all inter-company transactions and settlements.

  • Ability to interpret and draft position papers as needed

  • Develop, revise and implement business unit accounting policies in line with IFRS and Gri-fols global accounting policies.

  • Ensure Diagnostics US Finance is compliant with SOX and Grifols control requirements.

  • Improve communication and compliance with the local Diagnostics business functions with respect to accruals, time recording, financial controls, etc.

  • Develop relations with BPA team to ensure accurate reporting and appropriate processes are in place.

  • Proactively improve support and communication to Diagnostics business functions.

  • Continually seek to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and consistency of global FRA processes, controls and systems.

  • Support Associate Head of FRA, Diagnostics in various ad hoc projects as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (and GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements, Enterprise systems knowledge (SAP)

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing and management skills

  • Microsoft suite of office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access). SAP experience desirable but not necessary.


  • BA/BS degree in Accounting and/or Finance required, Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred

  • CPA strongly preferred


  • Minimum of 3 years of financial experience, preferably in Big 4 public accounting, and the health care industry.

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in financial accounting and reporting, auditing and financial process engineering, with record of strong control focus
