The Accountant 1 – Reporting to the Accounting Manager of the Finance Shared Service Center (FSSC) is largely responsible for daily fixed assets postings, fixed assets reconciliation, help maintain and update master lease file and fixed assets master record in SAP, accounts analysis and monthly close.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for day to day activities involved in the monthly and quarterly close.

  • Provide accurate and timely posting of all journal entry transactions according to IFRS and U.S. GAAP accounting standards. Maintain well organized journal entry files and evidence of approval.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheet account analysis for all operating companies, ensuring that balances are correct and have proper supporting documentation.

  • Reconcile and maintain various balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accurate information.

  • Prepare audit schedules and provide requested information (i.e. legal agreements, appraisal documentation and journal postings) for internal/external auditors.

  • Prepare fixed assets reconciliations for all companies in North America.

  • Assist with the updating, maintaining the master lease of all companies in North America.

  • Assist with an analysis of Capital vs Operating Lease when new lease and/or renewal of the existing leases are received on a regular basis.

  • Assist with the creating, updating and maintaining of fixed assets master record in SAP.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related scientific / technical discipline is required. Candidate for CPA preferred.

  • Related accounting or finance experience is required.

  • Must have working knowledge of accounting concepts.

  • Intermediate Excel, Microsoft Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio etc.)

  • Must be analytical, able to review processes and recommend changes.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work within deadlines in a fast pace environment.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs.
