This position is in the BioAnalytics group. The selected candidate will be responsible for the technical ,scientific and administrative oversight of the Analytical Operations laboratory group. Note: This position will be located in the Research Triangle Park laboratory location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides day-to-day supervision of laboratory personnel to ensure that test results are released in a timely manner.
Coordinates production schedules and manpower workload with Supervisors to maintain maximum efficiency and productivity.
Monitors test analyses and sample examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained. Assures that all remedial actions are taken whenever the test systems deviate from the laboratory’s performance specifications.
Responsible for the motivation, performance appraisals, counseling and disciplinary actions of technical personnel. Maintains good Company and interdepartmental relations through cooperation and effective communication with on-site personnel, off-site employees, and vendor representatives.
Responsible for representing the functional area or capable of leading a cross-functional team to achieve identified objectives.
Identifies training needs and assures that each individual performing testing receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the testing performed. Assures that staff maintains their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently.
Prioritizes own or departmental goals to ensure alignment of day to day activities with long term strategies. Takes personal responsibility for customers with prompt attention to questions/concerns, even in difficult situations; follows through to completion. Values and promotes diversity within teams and capitalizes on broad perspectives to improve team results and achieve group objectives. Conducts career development discussions with direct reports and provides individualized coaching. Publicly acknowledges and rewards excellent effort or results.
The candidate will perform accurate technical/GXP review of other operators work and can interpret /understand trends in data.
The candidate will represent BioAnalytics in team meetings and complete action items as needed for key project deliverables.
The individual will also assist in coordination of specific activities such as method validation execution, IOQ execution and small study execution. The candidate must have strong scientific understanding of the test methods being performed as well as the products/intermediates being tested.
The individual will also leads others in problem-solving efforts.
The individual independently prepares and critically edits procedures or technical reports of a complex nature, assimilating information across functional areas, suitable for inclusion in IND, BLA, or equivalent regulatory submission.

Senior Research Scientist II requires a BS with 10 + years or an MS with 8+ or a PhD with 0-2 years relevant experience.
Requires a degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related field with broad analytical background
Supervisory experience is required
The candidate must have experience in the use of modern instrumental analytical techniques including but not limited to coagulation assays, enzymatic assays, immunoassays, chromatography (HPLC, GC, IC), capillary electrophoresis, and gel electrophoresis.
The candidate must be able to recognize aberrant results and will be responsible for initiating investigations when necessary. He or she will participate in moderate to extensive problem solving which requires original thought and must effectively interact with scientific and non-scientific personnel.
The candidate must be able to recognize when to modify a standard approach to be more effective and incorporates new technology when appropriate. Frequent communication with personnel from other departments is often necessary to fulfill project assignments

Work is performed in a laboratory environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day. May stand and twist neck for 2-4 hours per day. Occasionally walks, bends and twists waist and squats. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Moderate lifting of 15-30lbs. with a maximum lift of 35 lbs. May reach above and below shoulder height.
