Position Overview:

Provides technology and application support to IS clients, assesses business and technical requirements, performs system analyses and validations, supports the development and design of system architecture, monitors system performance, and streamlines and modernizes application functionalities. Supports design and implementation plans of information technology projects of varying complexity and scope aligned with corporate, business, and IS goals. Proactively identifies enhancement opportunities to continuously improve technologies and applications and effectively delivers information solutions to enhance Grifols’ competitive position.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Technology Design and Development:

  • Participates in cross-functional teams to assess business needs and to develop systems architecture strategy.

  • Formulates detailed program specifications using structured analysis and design and documents business and system requirements essential to an effective solution.

  • Assists with development of client technical solutions that align with business goals and address requirements.

  • Utilizes developing technical skills and knowledge to perform extensive data analysis for problems of variable difficulty and dimensions.

  • Understands new technologies and new components which may be available to address requirements.

  • Formulates and recommends standards for achieving maximum performance and efficiency of the technologies.

  • Aids in determining project feasibility, cost and time requirements, compatibility with current system, and system capabilities.

  • Works directly with the client to solve information technology problems of diverse scope and implements effective solutions.

Technology Delivery and Implementation:

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to effectively implement and integrate new technologies and applications.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for implementing solutions.

  • Effectively conveys difficult technology problems and work plans to multiple audiences, including non-technical and highly-technical experts.

  • Delivers the installation of systems and coordinates the deployment of the system through going live, collaborating with the appropriate managers and other technical resources.

  • Ensures compliance with technology policies and regulatory requirements and takes appropriate action to mitigate risks and resolve issues.

  • Defines and maintains a clear, concise documented process for the implementation and/or integration of the technologies.

  • Tracks the progress of project deliverables, monitoring progress against schedules, addressing issues, and ensuring on-time completion and delivery.

  • Guides and supports project team members, including mentoring and training more junior members of the team.

Systems Maintenance and Improvement:

  • Manages the continuous enhancement of the systems infrastructure to meet challenging business requirements.

  • Assists in recommending modifications and new technologies for existing systems and services to improve effectiveness.

  • Identifies potential product enhancements and opportunities for IS and vendor service improvement and communicates ideas to appropriate senior management and staff.

  • Documents and reports application defects, making data repairs and communicating issues and solutions to appropriate management.

  • Assists in the ongoing development, revision, and execution of test documents as required by testing and validation guidelines.

  • Identifies and assesses errors or issues raised by the business community that may require system modifications and performs root-cause analysis of identified issues.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves client and user problems of varying complexities in a highly-technical environment and regularly updates client of ongoing troubleshooting and resolution efforts.

  • Acts as primary technical support for the client, communicating client status, concerns, and issues to the appropriate managers and technical experts.

  • Trains users on the technologies and facilitates the training of new technical resources on third-party technology.

  • Applies appropriate judgment in determining when to escalate issues to senior management.

  • Aligns and interfaces with IS management in identifying problems and implementing solutions.

IS Support:

  • Serves as a technical resource in interactions with business clients and external service providers.

  • Aids in the development of relevant and engaging training materials and gathers and provides constructive feedback.

  • Provides assistance to IS team members with issues requiring technical expertise or complex systems and/or programming knowledge.

  • Actively seeks and communicates operational opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining or improving IS efficiency and effectiveness as an innovative and dependable information solutions service provider.

  • Escalates unresolved problems to the appropriate resources and departments.

  • Performs routine tasks in conjunction with project work.

  • Assists in the development and documentation of industry and IS best practices and shares developing expertise with peers.

  • Receives instructions on new assignments and utilizes developing expertise to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assumes the leadership role of technical project(s), as assigned by senior management.

  • Guides and coaches project team in the objective setting process and advises team members on technical training and skills building.

  • Executes activities and tasks more efficiently and under less supervision.

  • Receives general instructions on increasingly complex new assignments and utilizes expertise to determine appropriate methods and techniques for completing tasks efficiently and effectively.

  • Engages managers and project team members in frequent conversations to gather feedback, incorporate suggestions, and initiate changes.

  • Mentors and coaches junior-level peers with routine assignments and project work.

  • Utilizes knowledge and familiarity with technologies and applications to proactively recommend solutions when identifying issue areas and improvement opportunities.

Skills/Qualifications/Education Requirements: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

  • Typically requires 8 years of technology and application support experience.

  • Experience with Argus oracle Application systems or some other pharmacovigilance systems as well as RMS (regulatory management systems) such as Xtedo, Parexel, and documentum knowledge for integration purposes.

  • Application servers Knowledge (Tomcat, Weblogic)

  • Knowledge in Pharmacovigilance and Clinical and regulatory processes to better support the application from the IT perspective is encouraged.

  • experience and knowledge in Oracle/SQL/Proc SQL

  • Awareness in Windows, ISS, JBoss application servers.

  • Familiarity working in GXP Environment and all documentation process that comes with it.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of business architecture, applications development, systems engineering, and integration.

  • Advanced knowledge of business trends, IS services, standard IT processes & operating models, and external service provider management best practices.

  • Advanced technical acumen, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Advanced technical troubleshooting skills, including research of software application errors, issue recreation, and root-cause analysis.

  • Advanced ability to work independently and as a member of cross functional teams.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to others.

  • Ability to be self-motivated and actively seek to expand technical skills and industry knowledge.

  • Ability to manage technical aspects of project(s).

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Frequently walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations and frequently travels within the United States.
