Associate Director, Human Resources

What You’ll Do – Position Overview:

As the Associate Director, Human Resources you will provide strategic, client-focused support to meet the operational and long-term business objectives of the Grifols Diagnostics division. You will continuously asses the organization to anticipate business needs, provide solutions to business issues utilizing HR best practices, work in collaboration with leaders to develop and implement business unit / departmental change, advocate sound principles of people management practices, and represent the company externally in diverse forums as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • HR Lead for the North America Diagnostics Division in delivering comprehensive human resources support to the Division. The position will be based in our Emeryville, CA corporate office with an additional manufacturing site in San Diego, CA as well as field-based commercial employees. It will support executive leadership for the business unit as well as exempt and non-exempt employees.

  • Works in collaboration with business leaders to develop and implement business process change and solutions to critical business objectives (i.e., education around a critical topic, business process change, etc.) through multi-vehicle communication plans.

  • Leads the Talent Management process for all businesses in the site, including Talent Review sessions, liaison between the functional leaders and the Talent Acquisition team, Leadership Development and Performance Management. Collaborates with respective HR areas of expertise in these initiatives

  • Proactively prepares key business data analysis and makes recommendations to effectively communicate HR products, services and programs (i.e. talent and performance management, benefits, compensation practices, orientation, and manager assimilation).

  • Ensures goals/objectives are set, communicated and are consistent with the business strategy.

  • Partners with clients to ensure the performance management process and progressive counseling process proactively address performance issues.

  • Manages employee relations issues to provide effective resolution, and ensure consistent application of the company’s vision, values and beliefs. Conducts investigations and integrates the findings.

  • Ensures career planning and personal development plans are completed and that managers are equipped to deliver development discussions, including proactive follow up.

  • Identifies organizational capability, strengths and gaps with partners to develop and implement plans to close competency issues with defined action items (staffing changes, development plans).

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of career paths, job ladders and job/role descriptions to ensure validity and consistency of use among client groups.

  • Communicates reward and retention philosophy of the organization and for the business unit.

  • Ensures promotion and reward decisions are closely correlated with operating performance of business unit.

  • Ensures effective application of the annual performance management program through evaluation, analysis, and feedback.

  • Conducts compensation analyzes and makes recommendation around total reward programs impacting the client groups.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR or related field is required. Master's Degree Preferred. SPHR Certification strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of HR Generalist experience including work as either an HR Business Partner or in an HR leadership role. Experience in a related industry is preferred.

  • Expert knowledge of HR / market trends and alternative approaches to HR practices – i.e., work/life policy, compensation, team facilitation, organizational development.

  • Expert analytical, oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to initiate and champion change.
